Gaming improvements from Mint 13 to Mint 14?

Post by lotharjade »

I play Star Trek Online (STO) MMORPG on Linux Mint 13 Maya using WINE. Everything is going pretty good, but I have been tempted to upgrade to Linux Mint 14 Nadia. Every time I upgrade there is a risk that I will have trouble getting everything working right. So the big question is this. Is there a Gaming Performance (or System Performance) improvement to be seen when moving from Mint 13 to  Mint 14? It is my understanding there was a lot of issues resolved from the earlier fracture of the underlying components (Gnome, Mate, Cinnamon and whatnot). If there is a worthy benefit, I would likely upgrade my system.

Have you tried turning it off and on again, then hitting it repeatedly? :/

From what I've read, the big leap takes place in Mint 15 (Olivia) when Ubuntu releases 13.04. My opinion is there's no reason to go to 14 if you're happy with 13, and instead wait for 15, which is due in May this year.
