.ICEauthority no such file exists

Post by ksharrin »

I log into my account and I get the error:

could not update ICEauthority file /home/user/.ICEauthority

so I googled it and went into recover mode and typed:

Code: Select all

sudo chown USERNAME:USERNAME .ICEauthority
It returns:

Code: Select all

chown: cannot access '.ICEauthority': No such file or directory
What can I do to fix this?

Sounds like the file was deleted, in which case you can follow the directions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1906789
When you went into recovery mode, did you log in as root? If so you'd need to navigate to your user's home dir first.
