Wifi for Compaq Presario V2000

Postby NSM1928 on Tue Feb 12, 2013 1:15 pm

I recently loaded Linux mint w/ cinnamon on an old Compaq Presario V2000. Everything seems to be working fine except for the wifi which is missing. Any ideas, I feel I am missing something simple and I need a place to start looking.

Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I realize you're using the "Main" edition, but I have the same V2000 notebook. If haven't been able to resolve the networking issue and if you're willing to try this out, I'd like to say that the wireless networking in Linux Mint 13 XFCE (32-bit) version works perfectly. Wireless networking also works in version 14, but for me, there are other things in version 14 that didn't work so well... namely, MESA 9.x doesn't support our onboard intel graphics, and so we lose hardware graphics acceleration.
My setup:
*Linux Mint 13 XFCE 32-bit (Until the next LTS release)
    *Linux Mint 15 XFCE (RC) 32-bit (Tried...Failed)
    *Compaq Presario V2000 (from 2006) - Intel 1.5GHz (Pentium M) - 2 GB RAM - Intel 82852/855GM integrated video (i915)- WiFi
