KDE does not display on Acer Aspire 4736z

:?: i tried installing linux mint 14 kde on my Acer Aspire 4736z by burning the iso file on a dvd. After booting through DVD,i.e. after the boot screen, nothing is displayed... totally black screen. Even ubuntu doesnot display. i am currenty using windows 7 and want to use a multiboot system. Please help i'm a total linux newb :oops:
