Mint from a USB stick

Noob here, running the latest Mint from a USB flash drive [SOLVED]
Everything looks awesome, internet is smooth, just a couple issues.

I have to run from USB because the Motherboard does not recognize the SATA ports (no hard drive, no dvd drive)
When I insert an SD card, it says "Unable to mount 1GB Volume" and
"Adding Read ACL for uid 999 to '/media/mint' failed; Operation not supported"

This happens with multiple SD cards, even brand new and I can confirm they work on a Windows box.
When I look in "Files", I can see the device and it correctly reports the size.
But if I click to Open/Mount, I get the same error.

Is this a limitation based on the fact that I am running the OS from the USB Flash drive?

Have u made this into a bootable drive? Also why would your mother board only be recognizing the sd and nothing else? I think that might be your issue. I ran my whole Linux in persistent on a 4g usb, but Linux was only using half the drive.

Yes, the flash drive is bootable.
I knew the SATA ports on the motherboard were bad, there is no hard drive or dvd drive connected.
I knew I could run Mint from a stick without a hard drive.
I used the persistent option when creating the bootable usb stick.

Ok so when you go to run do you see the mint splash screen?

Linux Mint is up and running just fine.
If I restart, I see the Mint splash screen, is that what you mean?

I was wondering if this is possible and you guys just gave me the answer that I needed. I just wish I wouldn't encounter any problems installing it.
