How do I change from MATE desktop to the Cinnamon one? I have downloaded the "cinnamon" package from Synaptec but have had no success in changing desktops.

Log out. At login you should have a dropdown box that gives you the option of which desktop environment to log into.

You might need to deselect auto login before you log out if you have your pc set to log in automatically like I do - the desktop options will then show in a dropdown of the login screen.
