I upgraded to Nadia yesterday.

The mint-meta-mate package keeps getting held back and won't upgrade. can anyone tell me why?

Thanks.

Did you do a clean install, or an upgrade in place? In case of the latter, and after you have backed up your important personal documents, you may try the following two commands to force an upgrade:

Code: Select all

apt update
apt dist-upgrade
Share the output here of that second command, if it still doesn't upgrade held back packages.

Using a Chromebook and a Ubuntu 12.04 install.

Converted to Maya. Then, upgraded to Nadia.

Here's the result of the two commands you asked me to perform...

user@ChrUbuntu:~$ apt dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
mint-meta-mate
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
user@ChrUbuntu:~$

Okay, that is a tricky conversion perhaps. What does the following say?

Code: Select all

inxi -r

This may not be the cause, but I'd edit that file and replace "precise" with "quantal". You now have it configured for an older version of Ubuntu.

Thanks xenopeek,

Edited that source to quantal.

Unfortunately, that was not the solution for my mint-meta-mate issue.

This issue was resolved by going through Synaptic.

Installed mint-meta-mate through there. The package had a conflict with a "usb image writer". Strange but it works!

Thanks again xenopeek.
