I have an issue running Mint Cinnamon 13 on a Lenovo Ideapad Z850. Most of it works perfectly, though at first it wouldn't start Xserver, I managed to remedy this following a tutorial and got the GUI running. However, quite at random, the whole system freezes. I can't switch to another command line using CTRL+ALT+F2 or any other, I have no option but to hard reset. I have played a full HD movie from start to finish via my external monitor plugged in to HDMI, therefore, I assume the graphic drivers are working properly. (It is one of the dreaded "Optimus" NVDIA Graphics cards (GT630M) , but I'm guessing that my system is utilizing the the Intel HD4000 built in GPU.
I've just made the jump, finally, from Windows to Linux. I have run various distro's in dual boot systems with Windows before, now I am determined to stay in the free and open source bracket. I'm really pleased with Mint so far, and getting to learn Linux is so rewarding and interesting. I don't know a lot right now, getting to know the terminal a bit better. However, with this issue I can't even guess at a starting point as to why it crashes? Any help is of course...
MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
