No sound through HDMI

Hi to everybody. I recently installed Mint on a mini PC connected to the TV with an HDMI cable. There is no sound through TV speakers.

I have read many other posts on the net suggesting to use alsamixer to unmute dall'hdmi, but in my case it does not work (or am I have mistaken something). Before Mint, I had Ubuntu on this same computer and audio over HDMI worked perfectly.

This is what I tried to do following suggestions in other posts, but with no luck (no sound at all):

I hate to point out the obvious but i had a little trouble with this as well, and what i found was you have to select the sound to play through HDMI manually.

Thanks for your kind answer, but what do you mean by "selecting hdmi manually"? I tried in many different ways, but didn't managed to have audio through my tv (despite audio was working well in Ubuntu with the same equipment).

I think what he means is to go to System settings --> Sound

And under the 'Output' tab, select your HDMI source.

If that doesn't work it might be wise to install the proprietary Nvidia drivers.
