[SOLVED] Correct video drivers, how?

Postby luancristian on Thu Feb 28, 2013 6:40 pm

I'm a totally newbie in the linux world. I installed mint linux in a old laptop, with a SIS 771/671 VGA. I'm using the standard drivers of mint, but the max resolution I can get is 1024x768 (max display res. is 1280x800), how do I configure it/install the right driver?
I read somewhere that this sis devices are natively supported by Linux Mint but i'm not getting the righ resolution :/

Edit: Just found the solution on my onw, added the following lines to /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Code: Select all
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
# xorg.conf para linux Mint Debian Based - configuração para linux mint baseado no Debian
# funciona em placas sis

#VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 771/671 PCIE VGA Display Adapter (rev 10)

#
# This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
# values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
#
# You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
# For example:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
