renamed drive labels: cannot see files in drives

renamed drive labels in mint 14.1 using the following command:

~$ sudo dosfslabel /dev/sda# F:

cannot see any file in the drive. "~$ df -kh" command shows the drive as empty.
cannot boot, error message- "This is not a bootable disk.. please insert a bootable floppy in the drive and press a key..."

installed a new linux but still cannot see any file in the renamed drive!

"man" says: dosfslabel - set or get MS-DOS filesystem label

Are the partitions ext3 or 4, NTFS, FAT32 or ??

In linux and ext filesystems, the labels are NOT "C:", "D:", etc., as in windows, they're short strings like "MINT14" or "BOOT". The ":" might be a problem...?

Try booting from the Mint install disk and (re)setting the labels with gparted.
Mint 17/Xfce/fluxbox & another Mint 17/Xfce/fluxbox
