Noob here trying to teach myself some basics. I've tried installing Wordpress on a Linux Mint 14 VM (VMware Player) using the following two guides with the same result:
http://www.upubuntu.com/2012/12/install ... buntu.html
http://www.jonathanmoeller.com/screed/?p=3568
Basically the issue is that while Wordpress installs find and dandy and looks fine from the local machine, it doesn't render correctly from any other machines. I'm guessing that the page is loading without any CSS formatting, also links do not function.
I'm guessing I'm missing something in the apache config or .htaccess file but I'm not putting two and two together here. Also I believe the guides are assuming that you're installing it on a server with multiple sites but don't indicate how to setup security/etc (again I'm a noob).
Here is how the site looks from other machines: http://i.imgur.com/Zhtj9Jj.png
I'm sure it's something simple but I've banged my head against it a few times now and can't seem to crack it, any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Issue installing Wordpress on Linux Mint 14
I had this issue once too. Did you use http://localhost to configure WordPress by any chance?
If you did, what this does is set WordPress's URL to localhost, meaning if your CSS file is "/style.css", the other computer will look for http://localhost/style.css. You can fix this by reinstalling WordPress or going to the admin panel -> Settings -> General and changing "WordPress Address (URL)" and "Site Address (URL)".
Let me know if that fixes it!

Checked on it and it is set to: http://localhost/wordpress

Alright, change the URLs to your site's URL, or if you don't have one yet, your (external, unless you're using your internal address and don't intend on access outside your network) IP address.washedupgamer wrote:Checked on it and it is set to: http://localhost/wordpress

If that doesn't work, I'd try reinstalling but configuring using the URL or IP address.
Re: Issue installing Wordpress on Linux Mint 14
I changed "localhost" to the IP address of the machine and everything appears to be working now
Weird thing is I ran through the initial configuration a few times and didn't see that option (maybe I wasn't looking hard enough).
Thanks for the help bud.
