I understand too little. There exist two versions of LM
I have the LMDE on an USB in "live" version but have thought of
to install it on a dedicated USB because I want to install the MakeHuman program
and it needs python which the Live don't have. link to the makehuman program download site
http://www.makehuman.org/content/download_alpha_7.html
Here is what is provided.
amd64 python 2.7 Tarball for amd64 linux using python 2.7 (for example Ubuntu versions greater than 10.04)
amd64 python 2.7 DEB for amd64 linux using python 2.7 (for example Ubuntu versions greater than 10.04)
amd64 python 2.6 Tarball for amd64 linux using python 2.6 (for example debian)
amd64 python 2.6 DEB for amd64 linux using python 2.6 (for example debian)
Not sure what that means. When is it better to use a Tarball instead of a DEB?
what would work best on an USB the unbuntu variant or the Debian variant of LM?
I tried to search this forum but none seems to have written about any success to get the
MakeHuman going on LM?
MakeHuman on Linux Mint or LMDE Help! Python etc

http://youtu.be/gVCfeFOxGLQ External install to usb flash or external hdd.
Install programs using DEB whenever possible.

Re: MakeHuman on Linux Mint or LMDE Help! Python etc
Thanks for linking to that very good video instruction.
That would allow me to have a full install on an external HD
or USB adapter or a USB flash stick.
But then I still need to know what this Python thing is and
how to install the MakeHuman program. I've never done such.
Which is better to use the LM that is Ubuntu or the LM that is Debian?
I guess the LMDE can be lite or lighter? Any suggestion on the Python thing?

Using a installed flash drive will be painfully slow on a netbook.nooby wrote:Thanks for linking to that very good video instruction.

Python is a programming language. The link shows debs for both python and make human. You'll need 32bit if you are using a netbook. Down load the debs double click on the python and install it then the same for make human deb
LMDE or LM Cinnamon or LM Mate or LM XFCE - its up to you - I prefer cinnamon but, have used all three apart from DE which brought up some errors when I tried it. YMMV
XFCE is the possibly the lightest, mate, DE, then Cinnamon.
I would suggest using LM13 as this is an LTS

Yes maybe I make a partition on an external HD I have
instead of on a USB that way it works faster.
thanks for all help. I have LN LXDE on a 1GB USB
for to be able to tell it to install on a HD or USB
so that has worked before.
