[solved] Internet connection in taskbar disappeared

Postby KeesA on Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:50 pm

Hello,
In my taskbar there was always an icon to access and modify my Internetconnections.
It also showed if the Internetconnection is established.
For some reason, it is gone since a couple of days.
How can I get it back in the taskbar.
It is not listed in the "add to panel" menu.
I use Mint 14 Mate

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You sure it's not listed in "Add to Panel"? it's called Network Monitor. If it is truly missing, then I'm not certain, you could add it by creating a launcher and with adding usr/share/nm-applet in the command field.

No it is not the Networkmonitor.
I have the Networkmonitor on the taskbar but the one that is lost is that symbol with a red cross in it when you are disconnected from the internet.

I guess you mean the "Network Connections" ,you can still use my suggestion I posted earlier but use this in command field instead

Code: Select all
nm-connection-editor

or choose "Copy A Launcher from the Application menu" then choose Perferences > Network Connections

Thank you TheDynamicHamza21.
I first put in the terminal what you said.
Then bash said that the program was currently not installed and how to instal.
I did that, and then I did your command in the terminal again and to my surprise the Network Connections where there.
Then I did "Add to Panel -> Application Launcher -> Preferrences -> Network Connections" and now it's in the taskbar again.
Problem is solved.

LM15 Xfce - the "network connection" icon disappeared after i went into "Network Connections" from the start menu "All" to make it a static IP. it appears to be static running ifconfig from terminal, and adding application launcher puts a ethernet plug icon on the panel, but has no information, its more like one for editing instead of the simple one that shows information with the editor (edit part didn't work from the panel though). confused, why did it disappear in the first place and how do you get it back? it does not show in the "add to panel" sections
