Gamma change stick on reboot?

Hi,

I've recently picked up a used laptop http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X61 and successfully installed mint 14 cinnamon :D

The display, as expected, is quite underwhelming.

I couldn't find an easy way to adjust the settings like eg Display Calibrator Assistant in OSX. All I have is brightness controls and random ICC profiles I downloaded online. In the Mint settings there does appear to be support for hardware calibration eg Spyder (the calibrate button is grayed out and tells me to connect my device) but I'm just looking for simple software calibration to make it look a little nicer.

I played w/ the gamma settings in terminal using xgamma and came up with a setting that's not quite as nauseating as stock.

Any way to make these settings stick on reboot? I did try a search, someone had a similar issue in Mint 8 but nobody had an answer back then.

Thanks!

I think I've got it!

Menu/Preferences/Startup Applications/Add

Just type in your terminal command under "Command"

For me it was

Code: Select all

xgamma -rgamma 0.788 -ggamma 0.688 -bgamma 0.775
But I suppose this approach could work for a great many different functions.
