I have installed linux mint 14 cinnamon 64bit version, I did some kind of restore defaults and I have lost the ability to change the cinnamon settings and if I run Update Manager from the Menu it ask for the root password but display no form?

I have solved the problem - it looks like it fails after I installed python 2.5.6(which I need for the applications running on the box) . I think this highlights a general problem that may bite others. I renamed the python in /usr/local/bin to python25 and the forms now display again.
