Just try searching the net, you may find some clues...

I have found this link with google: http://www.sat-industry.net/forums/appl ... image.html
The squash file system (SQUASHFS) is a derivate of CRAMFS (Compressed RAM File System) which is used to "pack" the Dreambox' Operating System into the Flash.
When the Dreambox boots up, it is "unpacked" and stored into RAM for as long as the Dreambox is "ON"

See here and here for more information and to download some tools.

BTW: A combination of both is used as "DreamboxFS" the system now used for the Dreambox for maximum compression as the OS is getting bigger and bigger and authors of images are "running out" of Flash (space in the Flash chip to store the image).
