How to disable Screen Lock?

Postby jschall on Sun Jun 22, 2008 5:36 pm

I am running Elyssa on my eee PC. I have set up Automatic Login in Login Window Preferences/Security, since I am the only user of the machine.

But, after suspending my session, I press the power button only to be presented with a password entry dialog - the screen is locked.

How can I eliminate the locked screen when "waking up" from a suspended session?

This is as far as I know a security feature - you are always asked to interactively log in in after suspend and hibernate
It's the same if you restart X - no autologin
I may be wrong....

Yes, you are wrong this time, Husse :-)

I want to turn off this feature because I don't need it in my environment.

So, I managed to find it myself:

In Terminal, enter gconf-editor and open apps - gnome-power-manager and select "lock". Hibernate and Suspend are selected by default, so I unchecked them.

Voilà!

Well - it's there for a reason
I have had really bad experience with both suspend and hibernate and I don't think it helps that much so perhaps I should shut up when it comes to that ....
