suggest you look on the linux main site and downlload it, or go to distrowatch and navigate to the site, that way you will get a good download and what you want

You can only download from mirrors on the Linux Mint main site Clint, unless you go torrent.
You want to click on "5/" and then "LinuxMint-5-r1.iso".
If 5/ isn't there try a different mirror.

Not necessarily. I quite often get speeds of 300-1000 kb/s on FTP downloads. I usually try everything and go with what seems to be the fastest.
