slow apt-get speed problem

Postby ameyjah on Thu Jul 03, 2008 11:45 am

I have 2 Mbps connection at home. Normally I can download files at 200 KBps from Internet. While downloading files using apt-get, I am getting speed in the range of 20-30 KBps. Can you tell me the solution to speed up updates and apt-get download. I have seen getting 600+ Kbps speed on my college network.

Here is my /etc/apt/sources.list files

Thanks in Advance

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It ewould depend on the load I suppose. A lot of traffic results in slower download speeds and vic versa.
Perhaps try a mirror closer to your location which might have less traffic than the main repo's.
