nothing but problems...

I am your average, home-grown computer user: lots of internet use, medium office use and a little gaming, photo and video editing etc. I am willing to tweak a little bit and even try to make use of that terminal thing (although annoying as hell). So here's my beef.... I just spend hours on trying to find an intel 3945 wireless networking driver that would work with the ndiswrapper (inf file) but intel has a different file extension available as a download. The new "auti-ndiswrapper" does not support intel 3945. Hence my wireless still does not work properly. In the 5 minutes that I can use it before it crashes I tried to install the adobe flash player plugin both via adobe website and via synaptic package manager, I even tried to "force" the flashplugin-nonfree via the package manager...still does not work. Ahh, I almost forgot that about half of the time elyssa freezes upon start-up. I don't know how you guys do it, I don't have the time or the motivation to figure these things out, I just want my OS to work and as much as I want to give MS Vista the boot I think I have to go back to it as it worked better ...well maybe not better but easier than Linux. So, I just needed to get that of my chest as I should have studied this morning but spent hours on doing this stuff.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Maybe if you provide your specs we can help you? It's not an easy transition for some people. Worst case don't go back to Vista. At least install XP. Vista is garbage.

I've attached two files. One is the windows install files including three inf's, one of which should work through the automatic ndiswrapper program. The other is the module provided for Linux by Intel. If the auto doesn't work you can install the module and should be good to go.

Can you please tell me what to do with that? I have the same problem with the same wireless card. I try to connect and it doesnt connect. Keeps asking for my wireless password. In previous versions wireless worked just fine...

Is the driver/module installed correctly? You can try to use 'Windows Wireless Drivers' under mint menu: system, and install the .inf. If it installs correctly configure it for whatever mode you are using. I don't use security so I just keep it in roaming mode and select my router from the wireless icon in the system tray.
