That is healthy skepticism. To move config files wholesale from one version or distro to another is a potential train wreck. It usually takes more work to insure that you won't have problems, checking version conflicts etc., than it does to redo the configurations. I only transfer config files that contain data, ie knotes, tomboy, the browser, the mail client, etc. And then I make sure the programs are the same version. Otherwise I downgrade the program, replace the config file and then upgrade it together.

Besides, isn't one of the big reasons for upgrading the distro in the first place to get the new look and feel? Kinda defeats the purpose if the new version looks and feels just like the old one, doesn't it?

Just my own thoughts on the matter. :-)

That's correct unless you tick the boxes in the hidden files tab to back up various config files and folders.
