Missing opt direcotry?

Postby cjnkns on Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:57 pm

Alright - I can not be this much of a n00b....

Recently, I installed mint over my ubuntu install. I can NOT find or figure out where my /opt directory is.
What in the world is going on I can not be the only one without this directory right?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I don't have the opt directory either. What I found on Google is that /opt is for installing software manually, from source, but many people use /usr/bin to do this. Probably they have removed the directory. But you can create one for yourself.
