So I recently installed linux mint on my hard drive and I dual booting with vista. well I wanted to delete linux mint for awhile so I could put all of my music onto my computer from my Zune. well I deleted the hard drive ( I had two separate ones, a C: drive and a D: drive). well after that happened I shut off my computer then restarted. the problem that occurred was when I loaded up my computer is said "loading grub 1.5... ERROR 17." well now I had a friend install Ubuntu on my computer and I was wondering if I took off Ubuntu, would I be able to load up just Vista? if not does anyone have any suggestions, or if I need to clarify on anything. thanks very much

OK two ways to go and one I don't remember the details but it has to do with using your Vista disk "if you have one" to repair the MBR. The other is to reinstall Mint and then go into the Grub menu.lst and edit it so that Vista is the default system to load. Then you may be able to delete Mint and Vista still work.
