Changing the Mintmenu icon

Postby irieari on Fri Aug 22, 2008 5:36 am

Hi all,

I recently installed the Mintmenu on my laptop which has Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 as its OS. I then changed the standard Mintmenu icond for a custom one using a following terminal command:

# sudo cp /usr/share/icons/Human/scalable/places/<name of file>.svg /usr/share/pixmaps/mintmenu.png
# sudo killall gnome-panel

This worked fine, but when I tried to do the same on my other computer, using LinuxMint Elyssa, the same terminal command resulted in:

cp: target /usr/share/pixmaps/mintmenu.png is not a directory

Does anyone have any ideas on how to work around this?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I think your problem lies in trying to copy an svg as a png file. I ran this command without problem.

Code: Select all
sudo cp /usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-logo-icon-transparent.png /usr/share/pixmaps/mintmenu.png

Try converting the svg you want to use to a png first
