Thumbnails in file browser

Postby Erigemint on Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:19 am

Good morning,

as I want to add pictures to my mails or just for my desktop, I want to be able to choose in the file where my pictures are stored, but I only can choose between icon, list and compact ...

What do I have to do to see my thumbnails ?

Thanks for helping

Choose Icon view. At your option, you can also zoom in (also under the View menu) to see bigger thumbnails.

That doesn't work, I only see the icons bigger, but no picture thumbnails

I have Mint 16 MATE. The file browser is Caja. If you have a different flavor of Mint or file browser this may not help.
In the file browser, click Edit in the menu bar and then click Preferences.
In File Management Preferences, click the Preview tab at the top.
I have under Other Previewable Files, Show Thumbnails.
The options are Always, Never, and Local Files Only.
Choose either Always or Local Files Only.

I have Petra and tried to install Caja with Synaptic and no problem, but I cannot find the Caja program within the installed programs in the Start Menu.
If I go to Program Organizer ( or something alike, I work with the spanish version ) I can find the Program Caja and I can see it's installed, but I don't know how to open it or drag it to my program bar ...

¿ any suggestions ?
Thx
Erik

I also have Petra. Mint 16 and Petra are the same. Do you have MATE, Cinnamon, Xfce, or KDE?

Your browser is Nemo and here is another thread about thumbnails.

Hopefully it will help.

I must say I'm starting with this kind of questions and I'm lost in the quantity of comments and the complicated way of answering ... as a dummy ...

¿ Could someone give me the commands I have to write in the terminal ?
And the way of getting things solved once these commands are put into the terminal?

I would be most grateful,
Thx
