Networking

Post by locutus »

I'm trying to get networking working between my laptop and desktop. Both are running Mint 5 Gnome. The *only* difference is the desktop is wired to my router, the laptop is wireless. I've replaced my /etc/samba/smb.conf file with the sample one listed in the tutorial by AvanceIT here:
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 644#p78658
I did make backups of the original files on both computers.

In (menu) Elyssa->Places>Network, I get Windows Network. Click on that I get LINUXMINT. And then, doug-laptop & doug-desktop. And then, folder icons for "homes" (plural) and "print$". But what/where is "homes"? If I click on "homes" a message appears saying "Unable to mount location". I can't add new folders to check or see anything useful even looking thru the computer I'm using.

Is there another tutorial, or some place to add the shares?

Thanks,
