How to install new icon theme set with mint 5

Hi

can somebody help me ive downloaded some icon sets from
http://gnome-look.org/index.php?xsortmo ... de=120x121
but how do i install them ?
ive copied it to ./icons in the home folder..
and to usr/share/icons

and when i click on customize theme i can choose an icon set but i cant install them..

I have run into numerous problems too. Some icon sets load and some file invalid. Those that don't i just forget it about them. I have not figured out what the problem is. But I do know what you mean. :(

But how did you installed the icons i can never choose them..

And what happened to the install button the old ubuntu has one?
Or is this because hardy ? does Ubuntu hardy have this install icon button ?

why cant we have an install button for the icons ?? :?

To install an iconset just drag and drop the downloaded *tar.gz file onto the window in the 'Icon' tab section of 'Customise Themes'

That does not work for the icons..

i can drag and drop the themes.. but not the icon packages..

ok now i got it you have to drag and drop the icon theme into the theme selector list..

not on the customize icon list..

than it works mostly.. sometimes it says that it is no valid theme package..

oops... my bad :oops: Haven't installed an iconset in a while :)

That would be because the package you are downloading has not been created as an iconset by the author. In that case your only option is to untar the package and use the icons individually.

FYI, it is easy to fix an iconset that is a .tar or .zip file that will not install or is considered invalid. Just open the .tar/.zip file with Archive Manager, then click 'File' and 'Save As'. In the bottom corner where it says 'All Supported Files', click the dropdown and select 'Tar compressed with gzip (.tar.gz)' and click 'Save'. The new .tar.gz file should work now.
