Write to new HDD

Postby jukebox on Sun Sep 28, 2008 7:00 am

I have added a second HDD to my system and managed to format it, however I only have read access. I wish to write to this HDD.
What is the easiest way to achieve this?
I am a complete newb to mint. So keep things simple.

Thanks in advance.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

use chown to change ownership and chmod to modify permissions.

examples here

the referenced manpages on that post are very helpful as well in understanding what exactly you are doing
this of course all done in the terminal :D
nautilus has a tab under properties of the drive for modifing this in a GUI, but it does not work.
