<SOLVED> LM13 MATE:Update Manager issues. Cause for concern?

Postby tj-el on Sat Aug 23, 2014 11:49 am

Hi LM gurus,

New to the world of Mint so if this is a silly question please pardon this newbie.
Installed LM13 MATE today on my 4GB RAM 120GB HDD laptop HP 8510p. All seems to be running well however I am a bit concerned about the error messages and failures I'm seeing in the details when refreshing Update Manager.

I don't know whether I should be concerned or not so looking for an experts input.

Many thanks.

TJ

Edit: I should add that the shield in the system tray has a green tick in it and floating cursor over it brings up the message "Your system is up to date".

Hi,

the medibuntu errors are "normal" ,medibuntu has been removed.
You are advised to remove the Medibuntu repository immediately. This should do it for you.
Code: Select all
sudo sed -i '/^deb http:\/\/packages.medibuntu.org*/d' /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list

mjblenner is a ppa used for HAL (did you want to play amazon live video?)

Thanks PatH57. Will do.
Yes I did want to play Amazon videos but it's not working at the moment. I have another open thread on that here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=176418

When removing the stuff you said to remove am I supposed to see something happening in the terminal window? It seems like it's doing or has done nothing.

How do I get rid of those error messages in relation to "ppa.launchpad.net/mjblenner/ppa- ... ce/Sources..."

Many thanks PatH57!! :D
That did the trick!
I did actually look in there previously but didn't know where/how/what so...
Anyway, I have been suitably tutored.

Thanks again.
