copying documents folder errors maybe permissions?

Post by DarinB »

I am trying to back up my home folder.
I used to use back in time in lm 13. I fresh installed lm17
back in time back up of home freezes.
I tried backups it fails i get duplicity errors.
I now can not delete these back ups from my external hdd. my passport
trying to simply drag and drop my documents folder gives me can not copy errors
I looked at those files and they see to only have root permissions! I can access them with out root.
I have no idea what is happening.
maybe I need to first change all the sub folders permissions in my documents?
how would I do that?

I don't know how to fix problems with Back In Time, but I suggest you try grsync as your backup program.
