Sources update fails: "###ERROR###", "Failed to fetch", etc.

Hi there,

I am using Linux Mint Olivia, and suddenly my sources updating has stopped working... leaving me essentially with the inability to install any new packages, and other problems.

Update Manager complains that it cannot refresh the list of packages and outputs the following error message:

Olivia is obsolete . . as is the Ubuntu equivalent. Ubuntu are probably taking down the servers. Please read the following :

Still using Linux Mint 14, 15, or 16? Upgrade to 17 asap!
