Total newb needs help with wireless

Postby winterseve on Thu Nov 06, 2008 10:51 am

I am a total virgin when it comes to linux... I have a Compaq Presario C751nr with an atheros AR5007 802.11b/g wifi adaptor.. And I cant get it to work.. I have reinstalled Linux Mint and followed every forum about the subject with no preveil..

When i check the hardware devices it states.
Atheros Hardware Access (HAL) enabled and in use
Support for Atheros 802.11 enabled and in use

I downloaded the required packages:
Ar5007eg-32-0.2
ndiswrapper-1.53

Followed instructions and nothing.... Now I am dual booting with Vista at the moment, and the only time I can use the internet is when Im on vista.. I dont know if Im doing something wrong or what.. I just reinstalled MINT so I can start from scratch... I typed some codes in, dont know if this will help anyone.. I want to learn linux and have the patience to do so.. Just would like some wireless... If anyone could help???? If u need more info, please let me know....
