LinuxMint 4.0 Light - Kernel Patches

Postby micah on Fri Nov 07, 2008 3:10 pm

I picked up a magazine w/ this version on it and, I'm impressed but i need to re-build the kernel with my wireless card drivers... The problem I am having is that when i rebuild (official kernel, no patches) the kernel I lose most ACPI features - i get the power button, but thats it... (I have a laptop so Lid and Battery states are prefered)

How do i get the kernel sources that were used to make the DVD the magazine came with? I think the kernel has been patched, but with what patches?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Why rebuild the kernel?
And we use the standard Ubuntu kernel - no patches by us but it is not vanilla
To get the source use apt-get source [package]

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

With this kernel my wireless doesn't work and neither does my sound...

In the latest kernels both are supported natively to the kernel...

I can probably use modwifi for the wireless but what about sound?
