Should I update my kernel?
I've seen differing advice. One, always update to the newest kernel. Two, update to the newest in the series that came with your distro (3.13.*). Three, when your distro update manager tells/recommends you to. What should I actually do?

Four:
I am running Mint 17 Qiana, the install detected all of my hardware, and all of the hardware is running great and without errors. I will NOT be upgrading the kernel.

Re: Should I update my kernel?
you should not update kernel unless your system is very new and you need some latest drivers not present in the recommended and by default automatically installed kernel
Re: Should I update my kernel?
Not meant to further confuse you, but if a kernel update is presented to you from the package manager then I would recommend updating it.darkbyrd wrote:I've seen differing advice. There's really no risk involved given that the prior kernel version will remain intact and you can always boot to it should you experience a problem with newer one.
It's not absolutely necessary that you do upgrade and the choice is yours.
Good luck
