Customizing GUI

Postby Bacon on Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:23 am

My current goal befor putting Mint onto my main system is to get it how i want it on my test rig, i have everythin how i like it and its all very smooth but i have never really gone into editing the GUI of Linux much even tho it is very verry easy to mod so i am told.
Anyway what i am tryin to acheve is the bar at the bottom of the screen http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/SiCkNeSsJB/Screenshot-21.png click that link for the example and also to get conky working on the desktop rather than in a window.

Any help is this is greatly apreciated :)

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The bar at the bottom of the screenshot is a program called awn. you can install it from package manager. You could check your .conkyrc file and if you have this in the file:

# Create own window instead of using desktop (required in nautilus)
own_window yes
own_window_type override
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager

Change it to:

# Create own window instead of using desktop (required in nautilus)
own_window yes
own_window_type desktop
own_window_hints below

Good luck!
