Catalst settings keep being resetted

Postby thejens on Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:09 pm

Hi

I just installed Mint on my laptop (FSC Amilo xi1546)

The thing is, I do not use the laptop screen at all, but keep it attached to my TV. Basically I use a TV with resolution 1360*768 and keep my 1440*900 laptop screen black.

Problem is; every time I boot the log-in screen is displayed in some compressed 1440*900 mode (which looks kinda crappy on the TV) and I have to open Catalyst Control Center and change it every time. heres my Xorg.conf, is there any other file like this that ATI CCC uses?

Code: Select all
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
#   sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

More facts please
Which version of Mint (very important to know as the solution is very different for each generation now)
Which hardware - I see that it is an ATI card
You see telling us which laptop you have does not help very much - the content of the same model may vary largely
Run lspci and post the result
This is a bit tricky, strange resolution and the like

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
