What's the base support cycle for Mint

Postby Wenches_Master on Sat Nov 22, 2008 10:17 pm

What's the based security/update cycle for a Mint release?

Does it run along side Ubuntu's, in other words does support for it drop as soon as Ubuntu's does?

I only ask because I plan on running Mint 5 for awhile until they have time to fix some of the bug's in Intrepid or might be fixed in a couple of more of their releases.

I know the support drops for 8.04 which we all know Mint 5 is based on October 2009.

I was just planning on using ApTon to backup my cache and other system files just before Support Drops, so if I have to reinstall I'll have them all on disk.
Because the repo's for all of 8.04 will be gone.

I know this is trival to most, But mean's alot to others.... Thanks.... :D

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

As far as I know the support cycles are the same as Ubuntu's.

I sort of figured as such, which as I said is why I'm going to back everything I dwnld up with ApTon so I can continue to use Mint 5 for awhile, until they have time to fix the bugs in Intrepid...

Now one last question if anyone can HELP - How long will Software Portal be around for use with Mint 5?

In any event Thanks for your imput, I'm most Grateful... :D
