Desktop Freeze

Postby alpha on Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:55 pm

Hi, as per title my desktop is constantly freezing...though only,it seems, when connecting to the web (via gnome-ppp and a Novatel MC930D USB dongle).
Initially i thought it may have been some kind of conflict between an open web browser (firefox) and another program - always seemed to freeze when using amarok - but after a complete reinstall, this time minus amarok, the freezing is back...worse than ever.
Any tips would be very much appreciated as i'm still a mint virgin (one week old  )

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hi there. Which edition of Mint are you running, and is it Gnome, KDE, XFCE? (I'm assuming Gnome because you mentioned gnome-ppp)

If you open MintMenu and go to Administration > System Log and select the Message log to read, are there any Pulseaudio messages?
