What video drivers should I use?
What video drivers should I use for an AMD R9 270x, I have just been using default xserver-xorg-video-ati that is recommended in the driver manager. Should I keep it this way or download different ones?

Goldwinchester,
If you're relatively new to linux and the recommended driver you installed from the driver manager is working satisfactorily then you should consider sticking with it.
However, if you're adventurous and can dig yourself out of a disastrous crash then there are ppa's you can add to upgrade to fresh (experimental) drivers from these sites.
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/xorg-edgers
https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/u ... cs-drivers
Also there's the option to check amd's site for a newer version of your card's driver.
Good luck

Re: What video drivers should I use?
The default Radeon driver works just fine for routine desktop work including web browsing and viewing videos. Unless you are planning on doing graphics-intensive Gaming, there is no pressing reason to switch over to the AMD fglrx drivers.
Re: What video drivers should I use?
If you don't have any problem with the card, just keep using the current driver. You may experience that the card is slow in games, or noisier than usual: in that case, please install the fglrx or fglrx-updates driver from Driver Manager. To be honest, I don't quite understand why fglrx isn't the recommended driver.Goldwinchester wrote:What video drivers should I use for an AMD R9 270x, I have just been using default xserver-xorg-video-ati that is recommended in the driver manager.
