update to Mint 6 on dual boot

Postby Linux n00b on Sat Dec 06, 2008 7:38 pm

My system is dual boot windows/Mint 5. If I want to do a fresh install of Mint 6, do I need to do something special?

I'm trying to avoid any problems (eg. still able to boot into windows, reinstall everything isn't fun).

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Nope, when you run the install for Mint 6, choose manual partitioning and choose to format the root partition. This will install Mint 6 Just like Mint 5 was, and you will still be able to access windows. Just don't overwrite anything that says NTFS. :P
Linux Mint 8 RC1 = Nice
'apt install' can be used on Linux Mint as a shortcut for 'sudo apt-get install'. 'apt x' can be used for various other apt commands as well.
When a problem is solved, please add [SOLVED] to your thread title.
