Hi,

Just wondering what is the support for Webcam like for Mint?

I like to use my PS2 eyetoy, which there is a way to use it on Windows: http://www.jacobsen.no/anders/blog/arch ... ndows.html

I got another "real" webcam as well, I am not sure what chipset it uses. Just a cheapo webcam.

If there are no driver support, how difficult is it to set up a Windows virtual machine on Mint? I am thinking of using VMware Server or Virtual Box, do they have USB support under Mint?

Thanks a lot.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Webcam - I used Cheese for my laptop webcam. It's in the package manager
I haven't used VBox much since version 1.5 ??? I believe they have resolved the usb issues from way back. see: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog
I use VMWare Workstation - no problems at all with usb support, and windows can be kept in its room so to speak.

Hmm I thought that Cheese is a program that uses the Webcam, but not a driver by itself, is it?

I like to be able to Skype, or use Flash video sites like ustream and stickam that can use your webcam.

Thanks.

Hi Sunnz,

I'm also interested about webcam support in Mint.
Mint is based on Ubuntu. I found the follozing information on ubuntu website (i haven't yet tried).
If you found an other way to make it work, don't forgot to make a post as i'm sure many people are looking for such informations...
