Vbox Sound issues

I'm running Mint 6 and the newest version of Vbox with WinXP and Vista both installed as virtual machines.
My issue is on the Vista machine, streaming sound from a browser is very jerky, like talking through a fan. On the XP machine though, sound streams perfectly. I've even tried streaming through VLC for Win, but no better.

This could all be user error since this is like my first time to even see Vista running, I've done pretty well to avoid it at all costs. The changes that I have made in Mint has done nothing but turned sound off completely, same in Vbox. It's got to be a problem with Vista but I have no clue.

I've done some searching around over at the Vbox forums but no real solution there so I just thought I would ask here and see if anyone else has found a work around.
It's no big deal to solve this and really it's not even a Mint problem.

I have Vista on my laptop and I hardly ever use it, but it's nice to have as a reference....
The support for hardware in Vista is not very good (still....) so it may just not like your hardware
Haven't played with Virtualbox just recently so I don't remember if the sound card is emulated like the graphics card - just as I submitted this I remembered that it is - there may be settings to select a card, even if I can't remember that

Vbox emulates sound for the VM.

Multiple variables can be involved:
64bit/32bit host
64bit/32bit VM
host's actual hardware
Vbox's virtualized driver quality

Definately a Vbox-slash-Vista problem.
