Not enough facts - we need to know which dongle..
With it connected run [lspci] edit by Husse lsusb and post here (right click to copy)
You can make a search for the id you find out from this - very often you find the solution immediately

Its a usb dongle, so I'm just guessing that lsusb will be more revelatory than lspci. I'm also guessing that it is 8187-based. But we'll find out when the user posts the result of his/her hardware probes.
