This mint4win experience is new for us too
Can you see the partition at all - there is a slight difference between not seeing the partition and not being able to view individual files
Open Synaptic (Package manager in the menu) and paste ntfs-3g in the search field
If it's not installed that's the explanation

When mint4win installs it mounts the partition it's on as /hosts
So open nautilus and click filesystems and then click on hosts.
