I worked out how to download some packages.. Easy once you know how. However although all downloaded properly and gave me the message that they are installed there are 3 which I cannot find in the applications mint menu. Why would this be?
The ones in question are (in no particular order of download).
Valgrind
File Zilla
Basislisk II
All the others I got I can find and they run. Just cannot locate these ones.

Re: Where did the programs go?
try running the program name from a terminal eg fileZilla. It should run from there or give an error message. But first
you should also right click the menu button and select reload plugins

Re: Where did the programs go?
mipcar,
If memory serves, Valgrind and Basislisk II are CLI programs. CLI programs don't show in the menu by default. I am not sure about File Zilla, but I think it is GUI. Have you tried rebooting. This will usually cause the menu to update.

File Zilla has appeared and is working. No sign of Valgrind nor BasisliskII. Did the refresh in Menu. What are CLI programs and how do I run them?Fred wrote:mipcar,

CLI Command Line Interface? You run them from a terminal. Usually by typing the name of the app, then hit enter.mipcar wrote:File Zilla has appeared and is working. No sign of Valgrind nor BasisliskII. Did the refresh in Menu. What are CLI programs and how do I run them?Fred wrote:mipcar,
