Firefox Problems

Postby sphelps on Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:57 am

Just recently run the update in Linux Mint to Ubuntu 7.0.4.

Update appeared to go OK. In fact it solved my usb WIFI issue.

Problem I now have is that firefox now locks up.

If I open it to a page on my PC it displays it OK
If I open a link from outside of Firefox it opens OK.
If I type in an address or click on a bookmark it just hangs,

Anyone got any ideas why this should happen.

Regards
Steve

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Please check the Ubuntu forums since upgrading the Ubuntu repos to 7.04 is not recommended or supported action in mint.

Am new to Linux, and when I first installed it it said there were updates, and the first one was Ubuntu 7.04.

It still shows up as Linux Mint and Bianca though on the desktop

you have a few options:

using synaptic you can reinstall firefox.
or
using synaptic you can remove firefox and then install firefox.
or
look/wait for an update to firefox to be released.

I haven't seen any recent posts about firefox errors on 7.04 fiesty.

it maybe gremlins and a reboot later it all works.

The extreme fix is to reinstall mint and not hit the upgrade to 7.04 button but just update packages. :(

good luck

install swiftfox... as far as I heard it had no lockups that firefox is experiencing in edgy

you can install it easily via automatix (http://www.getautomatix.com)
Windows is extremely fast after a fresh install. If you want to make it stay that way: - don't use it.
