How to use Tracker?

Postby scooter on Fri Mar 13, 2009 10:55 pm

Hi Everyone,

I needed to search for a file on my hard drive the other day and decided to try the tracker search program. No matter what I typed into the into the "search"box, I received the message "file not found"

Can somebody enlighten me please. Thanks for that.

Cheers,
Scooter

Try using the Deskbar applet.

You install it by adding it to the taskbar.
Right click on and empty spot on the taskbar and an "Add to panel" selection should appear in the pop-up menu,
Select "Deskbar" and it should appear as a new button on your taskbar.
Left-click on it and a search prompt should appear.

It searches not only files but available commands in the menu etc.

You also have to enable indexing and wait for it to index your files before you can search. You can't just fire it up for the first time and find a file straight away.
