No sound

First, give us some more information.

1. What version of Mint do you have?
2. Some info about your computer (make, model, cpu, ram, etc.)
3. Run "lspci" and "lsusb" in terminal and post results. (those are lower case Ls not 1s)
To copy from terminal, highlight text and right click. click copy
To post in forum, select "code" from menu, right click, and select paste.
4.Did you install using Mint4win?

If you will provide this information there are many forum members who will be happy to help.

You could consider switching to OSS4 instead of sticking with ALSA (it fixed all sound problems for me and I don't have to deal with PulseAudio any more)..
