Proper Upgrade to 7.0.4?

Postby qibo on Thu May 03, 2007 11:36 pm

So i upgraded to Ubuntu 7.0.4. Then i realized my mintconfig wont start if i click the mintconfig logo at the panel menu. Then i read from this forum that i'm not supposed to upgrade to 7.0.4, because it will mess up my system. In the same message (http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... ade&t=2427) Husse says that there still is a proper way to do the upgrade. I would like to know more about this proper way? Thanks a lot in advance!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

To get mintconfig working again and get something similar to Cassandra:

Code: Select all
gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Then change:

Code: Select all
deb http://www.linuxmint.com/repository bianca/

to

Code: Select all
deb http:/www.linuxmint.com/repository cassandra/

Then save the file and type the following commands in a terminal:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install mintinstall desktop-effects restricted-manager beryl beryl-manager
sudo apt-get remove openoffice*
sudo apt-get install openoffice.org

Nice, i did exactly as you suggested (and uncommented the changed code in source list), and it worked. Thanks again!

I am assuming these are instructions for Gnome since you handled openoffice. Could you post instructions for upgrading KDE to 7.04 properly? (If they are different..)

Thanks!
